Write for Us

Who Can Submit?

At the Centre for Gender, Sexuality, and Human Rights (GSHR), we welcome writings from anyone who is passionate about issues related to gender, sexuality, and human rights, whether approached from a social, political, economic, or environmental perspective. If you have thoughts, experiences, or creative ideas that you believe need to be heard, we encourage you to share them with us.

What We are Looking For

We love writings that are clear, compelling, and accessible to a broad audience. Rather than heavy, preachy, or overly moralistic tones, we prefer pieces with engaging structures and arguments presented in a down-to-earth, conversational style. Do not be afraid to keep it relaxed and authentic! We also happily accept creative works, such as short stories and poetry.

Submission Guidelines

Your submissions can be in Indonesian or English and should be no longer than 1,000 words. Please ensure that any references are properly cited and your work is submitted as a Word document (.doc or .docx). Include a short bio (2-3 sentences) at the end of your document to introduce yourself.

Originality and Copyright

We value originality highly, so your submission must be original, unpublished, and not shared anywhere else, including personal blogs. Plagiarism is not just unethical, it can also be illegal. If we discover plagiarism or copied ideas and structure, we reserve the right to delete your article.

Publishing Rights

By submitting your work, you agree to give GSHR permission to edit and publish your piece on our website and potentially in other publications. We hold the first publishing rights to your writing, meaning the same work cannot be sent elsewhere afterward, including other electronic media or personal blogs. By submitting, you confirm that your work is original, that you hold the copyright, and that it does not violate anyone else’s rights or reputation.

How to Submit

Please send your work to info@gshr.or.id. We typically respond within two months. If you do not hear back from us by then, it likely means we will not be publishing your piece at this time.

Promotion and Recognition

As GSHR is a non-profit organisation, we are not able to offer financial compensation. However, we are committed to promoting your work and your social media or website links through our platforms, helping you reach a wider audience.

We look forward to reading your ideas and stories. Your voice matters, and we are excited to share it!
